Absorption and Assimilation of Digestive Results:Nutrition:Biology Chapter 6

Image result for small intestine

Small Intestinal Adjustment In The Digestive System

  • many folds in the small intestine
  • has a small projection known as vilus
  • on the surface of the epithelium vilus, there is a microvilus
  • in the middle of the vilus there is a white lacteal connected with a lymph vessel

Mechanism of Movement of Nutrients from Small Intestine to Liver

1.The absorption  process of diffuse food followed by active transport

2.Simple sugars,amino acids,mineral salts,Vitamin B and C are absorbed into the blood capillaries

3.Then,it absorbed into the hepatic portal vein to heart.

4.Fatty acids and glycerol combine to form fat droplets

5.This fat droplet and Vitamin A,D,E,K will be consumed in lacteal

6.This fat droplet will be transported from the lymph vessel to the left subcellular vein

7.Excess glucose will be converted to glycogen by liver cells and stored in the liver

8.Liver cells will build enzymes and fibrinogen using amino acid molecules

9.Excessive amino acids can't be stored due to toxicity and will be excurated through the urine as urea

10.Excess fat will be spread under the skin as fat tissue
