Mouth

  • Salivary glands secreted salivary amylase

Starch + Water - Maltose

Stomach

  • Acidic- Hydrochloric acid - stops amylase action
  • Gastric Glands secreted Gastric Juice

1)Pepsin
Proteins + Water - Polypeptides

2)Renin
Carsinogen + Water - Casein

Duodenum

  • Pancrealic juice is alkaline which is secreted by Pancreas

1) Pancreatic amylase
Starch + Water - Maltose

2)Trypsin
Polypeptides + Water - Peptides

3)Lipase
Lipids + Water - Futty acids + Glyserol

Ileum

  • Glands in ileum's walls secreted intestinal juice

1)Maltase
Maltose + Water - Glucose

2)Sucrase
Sucrose + Water - Glucose + Fructose

3)Lactase
Lactose + Water - Glucose + Galactose

4)Erepsin
Peptides + Water - Amino Acids

Catabolic pathways release energy by breaking down complex molecules into simpler compounds
Digestive enzymes break down
eg. : food - release energy

Anabolic pathways consume energy to build complex molecules from simpler ones
eg. : amino acids link to form muscle protein
